Admin Guide

For organisation Admins

The Admin role is the top account within your organisation on SimpleVote. You oversee who has access, org-wide settings, branding, usage and tier limits, and you have access to every election and folder, whether or not you created them.

Admins are usually a small number of trusted people who set policy; Managers and EROs handle day-to-day election work within the rules you define.

Organisation setup

Start under Branding: upload a vote-page logo and set the intro text voters see when they open their ballot. You can also set default invite email wording that individual elections inherit unless an ERO overrides them per election.

Organisation settings let you lock two important rules: whether EROs may create elections on their own, and whether Managers may invite new EROs. Tightening these is useful once your org grows beyond a handful of trusted operators.

Users and elections

The Users page is where you invite Managers and EROs, upload CSV batches of invites, and remove people who should no longer have access. From any election's details page you can assign EROs to specific polls.

You can create, clone, and folder elections yourself. You are not limited to oversight, but many Admins prefer to delegate running polls while retaining final control over who has access.

Usage and tier

The Usage page shows how many voters your organisation has added this month against your tier limit. Free and Tier 2 accounts have fixed monthly caps; Tier 3 organisations can request higher limits and must acknowledge large sends before inviting very big voter lists. Submit a tier upgrade request from Usage when you need more capacity or multi-role features.

What org Admins cannot do

Org Admin is not the same as platform super-admin. You cannot approve new organisations platform-wide, change another org's tier, or access the /admin console. That belongs to the SimpleVote operator account configured via ADMIN_EMAIL. You also cannot see individual voter rankings, and you should not override published STV counts except through the documented quota-adjustment workflow when your rules require it.

Platform super-admin (separate role)

SimpleVote also has a platform super-admin who manages invite requests, org lifecycle, and tier assignment across all organisations from /admin. In conversation people sometimes say “admin” for both roles; in the product they are distinct. If you need a new organisation approved or a tier changed at platform level, contact the SimpleVote operator rather than expecting an org Admin to do it.
